Enjoy crafting with your kids!

These racing flags were easy to make, and afterwards they inspired the kids to go outside for some active play to burn off some of their extra energy too! Yay for creative play that gets the kids moving!!

To make your own racing flags, you will need some graph paper, a black crayon, straws, and tape. Begin by coloring the graph paper as shown. My 8 year old enjoyed making these flags for her little sister!

Next, cut out your flag, and attach it to a straw with a some tape.

You may want to make another flag, so you have an official pair of racing flags to finish your race!

Then, go outside, and take turns waving your racing flags at the finish line of your race!! Suddenly your race becomes at least 20% more fun. True story!

“On your mark….. Get set!…….. Gooooooooo!!!!!!”

Party streamers make for a great finish line. So exciting!

We had many photo-finish races, and the kids were throughly tired when we were done. They wanted to race again and again!

Melissa & Doug say…

If you’re dealing with yucky weather, here are a few ideas for bringing the race indoors! You can still use your fantastic flags to celebrate the winners!

1) Use little cars to race across any flat surface, without creating too much of a mess!

2) For a more intense race, hop on your rolling suitcase (like the Trunki) and see who gets across the room fastest!
