We absolutely love your puzzles…..the birthday cake and pizza puzzles are our favorites! My very active 1 and 2 year old girls would LOVE the wooden princess castle, and I think Santa is going to drop that off this year!! So classic that it’s wood as opposed to the plastic castles you find everywhere. I’m sure they would spend hours of dramatic playtime in the Melissa and Doug kitchen as well!!!!

  • 16. Paul Jahnke  |  November 19, 2009 at 9:12 pm

My grandson loves to be my Junior Chef while I am cooking in my kitchen. We have purchased several of Melissa & Doug’s fun play food sets along with your durable shopping cart for him this Christmas. Having these play items, I know he would love the Grocery Store/Lemonade Stand. What a thrill it would be if he would win the kitchen set to store all his new play food, and I, in turn, could then proudly become his “Sous Chef” in his kitchen.

  • 35. Gina Keller  |  November 19, 2009 at 7:32 pm

My little girl would just LOVE to have this kitchen.

She plays with a Melissa & Doug kitchen every time we visit Jam Tots children store. She was given 2 sets of the Melissa & Doug play food for her last birthday. I put them away until we could get her a kitchen to play with them.

Another item she would like to have would be the Puppet Theatre. She has a great imagination for play and loves stories.

Ava turns 3 in January. A beautiful age for all these toys!

  • 130. Evelyn Walter  |  November 19, 2009 at 12:16 pm

The real size of the fruits and vegetables are just amazing. It is great for teaching colors, names of the items, and pretend shopping. We are just starting out with Melissa and Doug as we have 2 under the age of 3, but everything we have so far, out does the competition. The fact that a big priority of yours is the safety of our children, explains the full concept of your company. Winning the kitchen would be a big plus to our collection. Great Job Melissa and Doug.

I have been looking everywhere for a kitchen play center for my two year old daughter for Christmas, and everywhere we have been to look she does not want to leave because she wants to play with the kitchen. This past week we went to Target to check out the kitchen sets and my daughter, Brianna, was standing in front of the kitchen set with her chef’s hat and apron pretending that she was cooking in the frying pan. As people walked down the aisle shopping, she stood guard of what she kept saying was “my kitchen.” Brianna is obsessed with playing in the kitchen, and everywhere we go she is so dramatic when she sees the kitchen set. She makes that “Home Alone” face but without the scream and says “oh my goodness gracious, I can’t believe it!”
I have looked at so many kitchen sets and the Melissa Doug kitchen set is the nicest one of them all. We saw the set in a little craft shop in Ocean City, NJ in the fall and that is the reason why I have been looking for one ever since. We went to the craft shop so Bri could make a craft, but when she saw the kitchen she did not want to do anything else. It was a struggle to get her to make a craft, let alone leave, but the owner was very nice and patient. We were at the shop for three hours, of which about ten minutes were actually spent on making the craft. Bri loved the cutting foods, the cookie bake set, and the magnetic condiments. Since it was only September, I thought I would wait until it was a little closer to Christmas since we live in a condo and really have nowhere to store it. But I cannot find a kitchen set as nice as the Melissa Doug one. I decided to check your website and saw the contest so I figured why not, it can only help other parents that are looking at kitchen sets hear about how much my daughter loved the set. It is hard shopping for a kitchen set, because most of the ones in the stores are cheaply made and not of the same quality as the Melissa Doug kitchen set. If I am going to put out the money for a kitchen play set, I want it to be durable and safe. I have not seen a more durable kitchen set, than the Melissa Doug play kitchen. One other thing that is like no other is the Melissa Doug cutting foods, they are awesome. Whoever came up with this idea, really knows what kids like. With the cutting foods and cookie bake set, I might actually be able to get meals ready without my little shadow right behind me.
    Sincerely,
    Cherie

My grandaughter would love the wooden food sets. She is only 18 months old and loves the Melissa & Doug products already.

  • 222. Megan  |  November 18, 2009 at 4:21 pm

My son would absolutely love the slice and bake cookies. That’s his thing right now. He wants to help out anywhere he can in the kitchen. He loves to help make cookies and anything else he can get his hands on. He’s turning into quite the little chef. He puts on his little superman apron and he is set to go. I can not believe what great things you make. The quality versus the price is amazing. I would expect to pay at least almost twice what you are asking for your play food sets, and for quality that is only half as good. My son has a few of the jumbo knob puzzles and those are the only ones he likes. He doesn’t like any of the other brand puzzles that he has. I will definitely buy him more of your wonderful products. You have won over my whole family.

I wanted to let you know what a wonderful learning puzzle the United States Map Art Puzzle has been for my 3 kids. it was great when they were really young and just learning the states. But it also became a great reference as they got older and learned capital cities, and other important facts. I think you have many, many products suited for kids of all ages and your offerings especially support the Montessori philosophy. We have several of your puzzles and they have stood the test of time and 3 kids enjoying them!

My son brings us pretend food from a pretend kitchen often. He just turns around and turns magical invisible knobs and what not… and then delivers a gourmet feast to mom and dad on tiny little yellow plates. There is no doubt that he would love this kitchen or your wonderful grocery store. I’ve had my eye on both. So darn cute and sturdy! Thanks for the opportunity.

  • 668. Kristina Van Slyke  |  November 15, 2009 at 10:24 am

I subscribed to your newsletter. I think the vegetable toys are brilliant and cannot wait ti see what else you will come up with. I work in the theater and many time a prop master has tried to figure out how to make fake vegetable cut with a good sound effect. Not until my daughter got the vegetables for Christmas did we have a great solution!

    Thank you!

  • 669. Kristina Van Slyke  |  November 15, 2009 at 10:20 am

MY daughter Josie would love this kitchen- especially the sink. We are working to put together a play room and also am in love with the deluxe puppet theater as she loves to tell stories.

  • 673. Dawn  |  November 15, 2009 at 7:08 am

Ayden and Bryant, my one-and-a-half-year-old twin grandsons, love to “cook,” just like Mommy and Daddy. I had almost given up hope of ever finding them a kitchen set that wasn’t pastel pink, plastic, or so pricy that “Grammy” couldn’t afford it for Christmas. But I don’t think this one, along with your Kitchen Accessory Set, could possibly be more perfect! Thanks!

My daughter is 2 and really wants a play kitchen for Christmas. We love all of the other Melissa and Doug items that we have (puzzles, instruments, etc.) and really want to expand to the play food items as she loves “helping” mommy cook.

  • 729. Rashmi  |  November 14, 2009 at 5:59 pm

My daughter just turned 2 and she loves to cook. She watches me everyday and imitates me. It’s fun to watch her cooking. She would love the cutting food set.

  • 730. Patti  |  November 14, 2009 at 4:33 pm

My grandaughter loves the wooden caterpillar I got her for Christmas last year and the puzzles as well. I think she would love all the food items especially if she had this beautiful and I am sure very sturdy kitchen to go with them. My daughter and her family live in Arizona and I live in PA. I would love for my grandaughter to win this kitchen so she can have hours of fun times with it and think of me whenever she plays with it. My daughter only allows her children to have wooden toys so this would be the perfect birthday gift for her. I sure hope I can win this for her. Thank you for giving me the chance to win.

  • 781. Kalena Ryant/ Little Shining Lights Learning Center  |  November 14, 2009 at 11:20 am

I am a owner of a small but wonderful childcare! I am currently moving into a new facility within a few weeks. I am currently operating my childcare out of my home. While in my home my childcare children shared many of my own children toys. Now that we are moving into a building I will have to purchase new items.
I am a big fan of your products! As a mother and childcare provider I am so excited that these toys are sturdy, bright, educational, inexpensive. These toys are wonderful for my childcare because I don’t have to promote any characters. My desire is to fill my 4 classrooms with as much of your products as I possibly can.
Due to the delay in our state’s budget, my daycare’s funding is little to nothing. I am asking family members of the childcare to help this Christmas to purchase small items from your site to help fill our classrooms. We are calling it: “Christmas classroom”, this is just one of the ways we can cut costs.
I would really appreciate if Melissa and Doug could help us by giving this kitchen to our community room. This is a room in our childcare that promotes community. It will resemble a small community! We will also have a library, which will resemble a library. And my favorite room will be the Performing arts room, this will have puppets and a theater, lots of dress up items, instruments and the list goes on. But funding is low. Please help me by making Little Shining Lights a place were children will love to come! I believe that your products supports my dream for my children. Especially the kitchen, they will love it! Thank you! Kalena Ryant

I LOVE THESE TOYS! I collect wooden toys, but I am a cool collector because I let my students use my toys. I want to say I have, but my daughter has a set of the magnetic dolls. I also have a set of the wood food that you cut into pieces. These are so good for my special students who have difficulty with manipulation of objects, it is also good for starting conversations and teaching concepts like part to whole, vocabulary, and I have even used it in articulation therapy to stick words together! Thank you for making such high quality toys for every child but especially my special children here in Killeen ISD, Texas!

My daughter, 22 months, would of course adore this beautiful kitchen. But I also know she’d love your wooden puzzles, and we have our eye on them for Xmas and birthday gifts. She’s played with some similar puzzles at playgroup and enjoyed them. I’d pick the wooden farm sounds puzzle in particular – http://www.melissaanddoug.com/dyn_prod.php?p=268&k=86017&name=Farm%20Sound%20Puzzle – because she enjoys identifying and making the animal noises and would be tickled to hear the puzzle reinforcing them.

    Thanks for a wonderful giveaway!

My daughter just loves Melissa & Doug products. They’re really very educational and she loves playing with the beads and puzzles.

By the way, I hope you could expand your company to Asia because its so hard to order online and FedEx it back here. Stores here don’t really carry your bigger product line (like the easels or playhouses).

Anyway, love your products, hope to see more! 🙂

  • 955. Ching Yin  |  November 12, 2009 at 10:14 pm

As I have mentioned in my first entry, my son loves train and trucks. A Parking Garage for him would be awesome. Besides his toys, he also loves to play in the kitchen at home. It would be safer if he could play with the toy kitchen. : )

  • 956. mama_g  |  November 12, 2009 at 10:12 pm

We have several of your early learning toys (puzzles, stacking rings), but I hope that one day she’ll be interested in the horses and stable (as I was when I was little). These days, she’s really into pushing cars and things that clack. The alligator chomper is awesome. 🙂

But, really, what I want for her now, is the kitchen. Some place to stand and move things around, kind of like she does in our kitchen, but without sharp knives.

  • 957. MARTHA VARGAS  |  November 12, 2009 at 9:50 pm

I have to say that my daughter is absolutely in love with your large stuffed animals. We were in Macy’s and I could not pull her away from the tiger, giraffe, penguin, dinosaur, and lastly the black labrador (her favorite). She sat on the tiger, while stroking the lab, talking to them all as if they were alive and calling them her animals. This continued for a half hour, until finally we had to leave. She wanted me to bring them all home with her.

We adore Melissa and Doug toys! We have the train set and the vehicles and signs. They were THE hit of last Christmas.

My son would love to share the wooden service vehicles with his friends.

And we LOVE that kitchen. My son loves to cook w/me. We’d like to put this in our kitchen eating nook so he can cook when we do.

My 3 year old is amazed by construction trucks. He spends hours everyday watching the house across the street being built. I think he would absolutely love to have the 12 piece Construction Site Jigsaw Puzzle. We have the On the Go puzzle and he has so much fun putting it together and taking it apart. Melissa and Doug puzzles are great for younger children because the pieces hold together sturdy when they are trying to put them together. Nothing is more frustrating than having already put together pieces fall apart when your trying to put another one on.

  • 1047. Doretha  |  November 12, 2009 at 3:14 pm

I everytime i think of Melissa and Doug i think classic with a capital C. They are good about bringing back the toys i or my children enjoyed as a child. Now i get to shop for my grandkids and i love giving them classic games and toys. My first purchase was the alligator walker. When i buy from melissa and doug i have to buy two of everything. I need one for grandma’s house and for their home. So i got to hear good reviews from vistor’s as well as daughter in law hearing good reviews. All my other purchases from melissa and doug have brought the same kind of raving reviews. Now that my granddaughter is a 19 months….i am looking at purchasing some of the wooden puzzle pieces to help develop her hand eye coordination and small motor skills. Well made and fun to pay with….this is what melissa and doug toys are all about.

She’s disabled, and in a wheelchiar – so she can only play with things up high and on tables. She LOVES to play outside with her play house stuff – and role play…office, coffee shop, etc. The Country Store would be a great way to add to that. 🙂

I know they would play with it every day. They have never had a kitchen set before, so if they win it, it would surely be a dream come true for them! We are expecting a baby in June who someday would also have a lot of fun playing with the girls in this kitchen. Thank you for the opportunity to potentially win this fine toy! We also love the Deluxe Puppet Theatre.

  • 1120. Nikki Wick  |  November 12, 2009 at 8:54 am

My son LOVES playing with his Melissa & Doug puzzles. They are the very first puzzles with the knobs. Ever since he started crawling, he would crawl with them in his hands using them as support as he crawled. Apparently, they are also very tasty too! Now that he just turned 1, he likes to take a puzzle piece along with him for a ride in the car.

I think my son would love this play kitchen. Hopefully we will win! 😉 Thank you for the opportunity.

They are so well made that they survived through 3 kids and I believe it would last through my children too. It is hard to find toys that are not all made of plastic. I think that my son would really enjoy the kitchen. Thank you so much for creating such wonderful educational toys.

  • 1162. Shay  |  November 11, 2009 at 7:27 pm

I also subscribed to your blog. I checked our your website and love it! We currently own the instruments sound puzzle and my son loved it! That combined with the help of educational DVD’s helped my son learn his instruments at a really young age. I’m sure he would love the alphabet sounds puzzle. He loves puzzles. I haven’t gotten around to it due to lag and my browser crashing all the time when i tried to comment here, but I do want to check out your floor puzzles. My son absolutely loves puzzles, and that might be a good thing for him to enjoy for Christmas. 🙂

He’s also at the stage where he really likes to pretend, so I’m really hoping to get the kitchen set, because I know he would really love that. I have been wanting to get him a good kitchen set for a long time, but either never found the right one or never had the money.

    Love your stuff!!

    • 1163. Shay  |  November 11, 2009 at 7:42 pm

The kitchen is great – one of the few that isn’t covered in pink – we have a girl and a boy, our boy LOVES to “cook”.

We also like the Rock & Trot Plush Rocking Horse, which led us to your site! (We already have several of your delightful puzzles!)

My daughter and son love playing together. Despite the 4 year age difference, they really play together nicely. My 5 year old daughter loves being the big sister and playing with her baby brother.

Their favorite thing is trains. Unfortunately, we don’t have any, and we keep going to neighbors just to play with their trains.

I can just picture my kids playing with your train table — I’d never see them! Actually, I take that back. I’d probably see them plenty as I’d be playing along with them!!!

  • 1271. Cassandra  |  November 11, 2009 at 2:04 am
